Research Assistant Professor

Dr. Chen Yi (2019 – )
Dr. Chen received her PhD degree in Physical Chemistry from Peking University and the Institue of Chemistry, CAS. She joined the group as a Postdoc fellow from 2019 to Mar 2023. She was promoted to a Research Assistant Professor in Dep of Chem since April 2023.

Dr. Xueying Liu (2024 – )
Dr. Xueying Liu obtained her PhD degree in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prior to joining the group, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Houston. She joined the group as a Research Assistant Professor (co-host with Prof. Jimmy Fung) in March 2024.

Dr. Theodore K. Koenig (2024 – )
Dr. Koenig obtained his PhD degree in Chemistry from the University of Colorado Boulder. Prior to joining the group, he worked as a postdoctoral scholar and associate at the Peking University and University of Colorado Boulder. He joined the group as a Research Assistant Professor in June 2024.

Miss XU received her Master’s degree in Environmental science from the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental science from Jilin University.

Miss Hui Lirong (2020.8 – )
Miss Hui received her Master’s degree in Environmental Science from Beijing Normal University and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the Ocean University of China.

Miss Chen obtained her Master’s degree in Environmental Science from Peking University and a BSc degree in Environmental Science from Xiamen University.

Miss Zhong Jiali (2022.2 – )
Miss Zhong obtained her Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Jinan University jointly with the Institute of Chemistry, CAS. She got her BSc degree in Environmental Science from Nankan University.

Mr. Feng Xin (Mphil: 2020.9 – 2022.8; PhD: 2022.9 – )
Mr. Feng got his BEng degree in Environmental Engineering from Shandong University. He completed his Mphil study in our group in Aug 2022, and just progressed to his Ph.D. study in Sep 2022.

Miss. Wang Hao (2023.9 – )
Miss Wang got her Master degree in Physical Chemistry from Shandong University. She joined the group as a Ph.D. student in Sep 2023.

Miss Meng Ying (Mphil 2022.2 – 2024.1; PhD )
Miss Meng obtained her MSc degree in Safety, Health & Environmental Technology from National University of Singapore and a BSc degree in Applied Chemistry from Central South University. She completed his Mphil study in our group in Jan 2024, and just progressed to her Ph.D. study in Feb 2024.

Mr Yao Yijie (2023.9 – )
Mr Yao obtain his BEng degree in Environmental Engineering and Atmospheric Science (minor) from Tsinghua University, and his Master degree in Environmental Science from Research Centre for Eco-Environmental Sciences in Chinese Academy of Sciences. He joined the group as a RA from Sep 2023 to Aug 2024, and started his PhD study since Sep 2024..

Master Students

Miss Zhao Bingying (2022.8 – )
Miss Zhao obtained her BA and MSci degrees in Nature Sciences from the University of Cambridge in 2022. She has also joined the HKUST Undergraduate Visiting Internship program and studied for two months in the group from Oct to Dec 2021. She has re-joined the group as a Mphil student in AES in Aug 2022.

Mr Lam Chi Hang (Hunter) (2023.9 – )
Mr Lam got his BSc degree in Chemistry from the University of Hong Kong in 2021 and studied for an MSc degree in Analytical Chemistry from HKUST in 2022. He joined the team as a RA in May 2023, and started his Mphil study in Sep 2023.

Miss YAN Rachel Xin Yen (2023.9 – )
Miss Yan got her Bachelor degree in Environmental Science (Atmospheric and Climate Science) from The University of Manchester. She joined the group as a Mphil student in Sep 2023.

Miss Ding got her Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Science and Technology of China. She joined the group as a MPhil student in AES in Sep 2024.

Dr. Zheng Penggang (RA 2019.6- 2020.1; PhD 2020.2-2024.8)

Mr. Zheng received his Master’s degree in Environmental Sci&Eng from Shandong University and BEng degree in Environmental Eng from Lanzhou University. He worked as an RA in the group from June 2019 to Jan 2020. He started his PhD study in the group since Jan 2020, and graduated in Aug 2024. He is now working as a Postdoc in Eastern Institute of Technology at Ningbo.

Mr He Weiyi (2022.9 – 2024.8)

Mr He got his BSc degree in Environmental Science from the University of Hong Kong in 2020 and studied for an MSc degree in Environmental Engineering from Imperial College London in 2022. He joined the team as a Mphil student in AES in Sep 2022, and graduated in Aug 2024.

Dr. Chang Di (Postdoc, 2018-2019)

Dr. Chang received her PhD in Atmospheric Chemistry from Max Plank Institute for Chemistry (2014) and Master degree in Environmental Science from Peking University. She is now working at Max Plank Institute for Chemistry.

Dr. Li obtained his PhD in Environmental Engineering from Shandong University. Now he is a Postdoc in Shandong University and HKUST.

Miss Connie Cheung (MSc student, 2021.10 – 2022.5)

Miss Cheung obtained her BSc degree in Chemistry from the City University of Hong Kong in 2021, and is a MSc student in Environmental Science and Management at HKUST. She conducted her MSc research project in the group. She is now working at AECOM as an Environmental Consutant.
